...Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know and holds us responsible to act... Proverbs 24:12

BIG NEWS

So this happened today...

Yellow fever shots for both of us. Because....we are traveling to the DRC in less than 3 weeks. Yes, I just said that.

We are going to meet and hold and kiss Josiah for about a week. We will get to meet his foster mom and see the Congo for the first time. He will get to stay with us the whole time we are there, so that is both AMAZING and also heart-breaking...because he will not get to come home with us. And we will have to hand him back over to his foster mom and get on a plane to come home. (note to self: no make-up on that day.)

We are also hoping to go to the US embassy in Kinshasa and put a face to our file. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read THIS post.)

Please pray for us as we prepare to travel. It has left me anxious like nothing else. Lots to think about and do (which means lots to over-analyze and worry about).

Pray that we (specifically ME...Mitch is cool as a cucumber) wouldn't let the enemy convince us of all the bad things that are possible and that we trust His provision, both for our finances for this unexpected trip and our well-being and safety while we are there, as well as our hearts. This will be HARD. But we are ready. Three years in the making....

Will keep you updated as we get closer!

  1. Wow! That is awesome Katie! Remember that He works all things for good even when it seems there is no possible way. It sounds like maybe Josiah isn't the only one in Africa you are meant to impact. You and Mitch have an opportunity now to speak to, shake hands with and come face to face with many more people! I know you'll represent!!! xoxo, love you and can't wait to see pictures of Josiah with YOU in them!
